Lisa Madison is the owner and operator of Contented Canine Massage. She is a graduate of the Northwest School of Animal Massage in Redmond,Washington and a certified Small Animal Massage Practitioner (SAMP) in Maintenance massage and Rehabilitative massage. She earned her certification in the Canine Kinaesthetics™ system of body care from Kinaesthetics™ founder Maryna Ozuna at her clinic in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Lisa studied Veterinary Technology at Camden County College in Blackwood, New Jersey where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

A lifelong love of dogs and an interest in animal healthcare led Lisa to canine massage. “My first exposure to canine holistic healthcare was over a decade ago,” says Lisa. “My shelter dog Watson was suffering from back and hip problems due in part to having been severely obese for the first five years of his life. Our vet suggested we see a canine chiropractor and acupuncturist to help ease his pain and improve his mobility. To be honest, my husband and I went into those sessions with our doubts. But it was impossible to argue with the results; Watson came out of his visits a happier, more mobile, and more energetic dog.”

“The whole experience brought home for me the legitimacy and potential of complementary animal healthcare. It planted the seed that this was something I might like to do.”

“What drew me to massage in particular is that it’s a very direct and immediate way to care for a dog that works on any number of levels—physically, mentally, emotionally, socially—simultaneously. It provides me with the latitude to combine different techniques and disciplines to tailor a session a specific dog’s needs. It’s a great thing to see a dog respond, and at times, even transform, whether it’s physically or attitudinally, right before your eyes.”

“The best part is that it’s a feel good job. Not just for the dog, but for owner and me. Everybody comes out the experience feeling better.”

Lisa lives in Cherry Hill, New Jersey with her husband, two daughters, and menagerie of dogs. She holds a B.A. from Washington College inChestertown, Maryland.

Canine massage is a form of complementary healthcare and not a substitute for the care of a qualified veterinary professional. Always consult your veterinarian before seeking massage therapy for your pet..
